For Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar, I developed a bespoke Mindfulness Based program aimed at viewing art in a mindful way for the exhibition ‘Weids! With attention to the beautiful North Holland landscapes.
Allowing visitors to step out of the daily hustle and bustle to pay attention to art.
HOW WE DID THIS
We offered mindfulness activities, which took place before opening time, which invite you to look at art in a different way rather than from a historical point of view. The program is composed by contemplative traditions and with scientific insights in areas such as psychology, education, neuroscience and polyvagal theory. The mindfulness-based inquiry is an important method that I use to invite self-examination and reflection.
Mindful viewing of art has a positive effect on body and mind and contributes to the quality of life.
This offer is suitable for anyone who wants to live life more intensely, enjoy more and more intensely. Everyone is welcome to join; with or without complaints, young or old, whatever name you bear, wherever you come from or whatever you believe in.
Afterwards, the participants will have:
– Experience what it is like to look at art in this special way
– Experience a way to find peace by viewing art
– Experience a new way to explore your own mental and physical well-being
